Part I

Disclosure Mistake

Stanton T. Friedman and Kathleen Marden are two of the remaining individuals who strongly defend the existence of paranormal objects flying in our atmosphere that many believe are extraterrestrial. The authors join together to state the various stages the phenomena has existed in since the 1940s. They also deal with the critics and debunkers of the phenomena and the UFO appearances.

The authors cite information about UFOs that many people are not aware of: there are more than 3,500 UFO observations by civilian and military pilots of “nonconventional aircraft ”__also seen on radar__with behaviors that crafts from Earth cannot exhibit.

Out of 12,618 sightings recorded by Project Blue Book from 1947 to 1969, Battelle Memorial Institute said in 1955 of the “Project Blue Book Special Report – No. 14” that 21.5 percent of 3,201 reports were unknowns. Of 308 “excellent” cases, 35 percent were “unknown.” (pp. 11-17)

(Unidentified [At the time called “unknown”] was an Unidentified Flying Object [UFO] report apparently containing all pertinent data necessary to suggest a valid hypothesis concerning the cause or explanation of the report but the description of the object or its motion cannot be correlated with any known object or phenomena.)

The authors point out the large-scale research and development programs that were secret, many operating under classified code names, such as Need-to-Know, Confidential, Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret Code-Word Majic, Umbra, or Ultra.

In 1944, Project Manhattan was completely unknown to Senator Harry Truman until 13 days after he became president upon the death of President Roosevelt on April 12, 1945. Then, Truman was given the startling facts, and the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan.

Likewise, when the first atomic bomb test occurred only July 16, 1945, the cover-story was that it was an explosion of a huge ammunition dump. The wife of General Leslie Groves (Groves was in charge of the Manhattan Project for two years) had no idea at all how the general was involved until she heard it was on the news on August 6, 1945.

Such secrecy also permeated the government UFO projects.

UFO PROJECT SECRECY

Stanton Friedman is a nuclear physicist who has worked on a variety of advanced, classified systems for major industrial companies and has investigated high-caliber UFO cases as portrayed in his books Flying Saucers and Science and Top Secret/Majic.

Kathleen Marden is a best-selling author and award-winning UFO researcher and lecturer, portrayed on programs on History, Discovery, Natural Geographic, and coauthor of Captured!, The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience, as well as other books.

Two separate channels of UFO investigation came about with the closure of Project Blue Book: One, a normal and routine operation of “explaining-away UFO reports,” and, Two, a deeper channel to actually investigate more substantive UFO reports.

The Roswell and San Augustin, Aztec UFO crash episodes were both labeled Top Secret and Top Secret Code-word.

The 800 pages of secret UFO material as code-word Top Secret Umbra was eventually released as heavily-redacted with only a few words per page left and not blacked out (pp. 23-24).

EARLY FINDINGS

The early days of ufology included the spectacular UFO crash around July 8, 1947, on the ranch of Mac Brazel 70 miles west of Roswell, New Mexico. Intelligence Officer Jesse Marcel of the 509^th bomb group, along with Captain Sheridan Cavitt, senior counterintelligence agent, inspected the site and collected samples of the debris from a gorge three-quarter of a mile long.

Many details on the Roswell crash can be found in the general literature, but the authors highlighted one particular incident that should be noted as indicative of government manipulation.

Officer Marcel had placed some of the debris on the desk of Brigadier General Roger M. Ramey preceding Marcel walking down the hall to the Map Room to show Ramey the crash site location. When Marcel returned to the Ramey office, the debris had been ‘replaced’ by the remnants of a common weather balloon. This was touted in the press as the final explanation of the UFO.

Because of the Roswell Incident and the accompanying “flap” of sightings, the July 1947 Estimate of the Situation and the September 1947 Twining Memo, say the authors, these reports led to a secret “AMC Opinion Concerning ‘Flying Disks’” sent to Brigadier General George Schulgren (assistant director of intelligence), demonstrating the Air Force’s deep concern. This activity culminated in a February 11, 1948 Project Sign (Project Saucer) and a Secret and Restricted report of 243 cases concluding that the UFOs were probably extraterrestrial craft (pp.29-31).

The government saw their “disclosure mistake,” renaming Project Sign into Project Grudge during February 1949, introducing an era of denial and debunking.

In 1952, however, a year of high UFO activity, the Air Force Aerial Technological Intelligence Command (ATIC) received 4,000 reports out of which 1,593 seemed highly unusual with 26.94 percent termed “unknowns.”

This included a small “invasion” over the Washington Capitol.

THE WASHINGTON INVASION

Also, in 1952 the Washington D.C “invasion” appeared; it seemed to have begun about July 1, 1952, with jets scrambled to reports of UFOs over the nation’s capitol. Airline crews reported said objects on July 10, 13 and 14. Radar operators reported scanning the objects, one recorded at 7,000 miles per hour. F-94 jet pilots reported three targets. Major C.P. Carlson recorded said UFOs on July 25. Air traffic Control Radar at Andrews Air Force Base had radar scans of such objects with up to 12 returns between them and also jet pilot radar.

Two F-94s were scrambled at 11: p.m. At 10:30 p.m. a USAF B-25 was vectored to several targets. Major Dewy Fournet and Lieutenant John Holcomb called the observed objects “several good, solid targets.” Then a second jet was scrambled, only to have the UFOs disappear. The same thing happened on July 26 in a “creeping appearance” of the UFOs as an F-94 investigated.

On July 27, 1952, more of the same “solid, metallic objects” appeared.

On July 29, 1952, Major General John A. Samford had a press conference where he declared “we have many reports from credible observers of incredible things.”

THE WORLD OF DEBUNKING

Noted critic and general debunker of UFO phenomena, Dr. Donald Menzel, discarded the Washington D.C flap as “temperature inversions.”

(“This is why inversion layers are called stable air masses. Temperature inversions are a result of other weather conditions in an area. Taking cues from Menzel, The Civil Aeronautics Administration Technical Development and Evaluation Center (TDEC) said in May 1953 that the Washington, D.C UFOs were “temperature inversions.”

The authors go into details that obviously belie the “inversion” explanation of the UFO “invasion.”

Dr. Donald Howard Menzel assumed the position of director of the Harvard College Observatory, the Paine Professor of Practical Astronomy, and also Professor of Astrophysics in 1954. Menzel worked previously in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Universities of Iowa, Ohio State and the University of California Lick Observatory. Surprisingly, he was later identified as a member of the secretive cabal Operation Majestic 12 Committee which was formed to clandestinely investigate UFOS. Menzel was also discovered participating in secret government projects (p. 61).

There was a Cosmic Watergate, say the authors, and Menzel was in the middle of it.

TURNING POINTS

Another ‘turning point’ in ufology seemed to be the Tremonton, Utah movie of July 2, 1952, where Navy Warrant Officer Delbert Clement Newhouse and his wife Norma, witnessed and filmed a dozen or so disk-shaped craft milling about the sky north of Tremonton.

The USAF laboratory at Wright Field and also the U.S Navy’s lab at An Costa, Maryland determined that the objects were “…intelligently controlled vehicles that were not airplanes or birds in flight…defied explanation.”

In the middle of all this, the authors contend that the CIA been secretly monitoring the UFO situation since 1951 and utilizing studies such as the Battelle Memorial Institute’s Machine Indexing System of 1,500 reports since 1947 (of which were 20 percent unknown objects). This resulted in the CIA Robertson Panel’s Scientific Review Board of January 14, 1953, which eventually led to the August 1953 Air Force Regulation 200-2 (which allowed only ‘positive’ and/as ‘debunked’ identification of UFOs), as well as JANAP 146 and Air Force Memo 55-1 as further censorship.

Philip Julian Klass entered the UFO debunking scene in 1966.

One major UFO case he attacked was a sighting on September 3, 1965, outside of Exeter, New Hampshire when Norman Muscarello sighted extremely bright red lights along Route 150. Muscarello made a report to the Exeter Police Department, Patrolman Eugene Bertrand discovered a distressed woman who reported to him a huge, silent object with red lights that stopped above her vehicle.

Officer Eugene Bertrand and Muscarello went to the Kensington site and discovered the UFO rising above them as a dark form with blinding lights. Officer Bertrand drew his gun in defense. Dogs and horses apparently were disturbed in the area and made noises. Officer David Hunt arrived to see the object depart toward the coast.

The infamous Philip Klass explained the episode away as freak atmospheric electrical phenomena, a ‘plasma’ called ‘ball lightning.’ UFO proponent and researcher Dr. James E. McDonald commented on September 28, 1966, that Klass’s explanation was bogus because ‘ball lightning’ only lasted seconds, didn’t have windows with struts and structures, and certainly didn’t match all the reported details.

Thus entered another classical aspect of UFO debunkers—attacks upon and character assassination of those who opposed critics; this was seen as Klass attacked McDonald whom Klass pursued at every turn. McDonald eventually committed suicide. The authors give a history of the dreadful attacks by Klass.

Klass attacked several famous UFO cases. The authors contend with several of his peculiar explanations, as well as Klass’s affinity to an alliance with government skepticism. The reader can explore these sequences for themselves in reading the book.

One particular case Klass acted upon was the Lonnie Zamora UFO case of April 24, 1964, when patrolman Zamora spied a shiny aluminum-white-like object 12-15 feet big and about 200 yards in the distance. Zamora said there were two figures in what he mistook for white coveralls, perhaps small children. This was followed by metallic banging sounds, various frequency sounds, and then a load roar as the object took off in a swirl of dust and light blue flame on the underside. Before the object disappeared, Zamora sighted an “arrowhead”-type symbol or similar red insignia on the side of the object.

Army Captain Richard T. Holden and FBI agent D. Arthur Byrnes found irregularly placed smoking vegetation and three smooth, circular marks 4-inches in diameter. Another UFO report came from a traveling tourist on U.S 85 who said he saw the craft before it landed. There were no human footprints or tire tracks (pp.126-134).

Hector Quintanilla of USAF Project Blue Book stated that there was no conventional explanation for the object that Zamora saw or the landing marks that were left behind.

Klass suggested a “dust devil” plasma ball, on the one hand, or a “hoax,” on the other. Menzel also suggested a hoax. Neither theorist covered the true facts.

Part II

Take Off Your Masks

The Condon Committee

In the government’s scheme to “phase out” Project Blue Book and give the outward appearance that UFOs were of no concern and they were no longer investigating UFOs, General E.B. LeBaill from the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Information, Scientific Advisory Board, also called the O’Brien Committee, investigated and recommended contracts with a few universities to investigate in depth certain selected UFO sightings in order to relieve the Air Force of further responsibility and also to determine a final solution to UFOs.

The University of Colorado was selected and Dr. Edward Uhler Condon was picked as its director. Condon had a meritorious background in science, including President for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Washington University chairman of Physics Department.

Condon had acquired a predetermined “bias” early on UFOs, and he often revealed it to the public with statements that clearly seemed prejudicial.

Many of the scientists on the Committee likewise carried a prejudice about UFOs. The ‘Trick Memo’ is quoted at length in Saunders and Harkins’ UFOs? Yes! (Appendix A, PR 242-244).

Friedman and Marden tell us that Condon’s emphasis was on describing those ‘seeing’ the UFOs rather than ‘examining’ the evidence itself (pp. 100-102).

Captain Edward Ruppelt had been replaced by Captain Charles Hardin who quickly reduced the previous 3 percent “unknowns” (was 20 percent “unknowns” in Blue Book Special Report No. 14 as based on Battelle Memorial Institute findings), and further reduced by the Air Force to 0.14 percent in 1957.

Condon demanded that the only ‘evidence’ he would accept was a physical spaceship or a body of an alien not of this planet (p. 97), though the findings of Roswell and other crashed UFOs were well-beyond his security clearance, such as Secret Code-word Majic, Umbra, or Ultra.

CLASSICAL KLASS

The authors lay out an epic portrayal of UFO cases that have stumped most investigators, and they also outline Phillip Klass’s ventures into some of them, beginning with his joining forces with the negativism of the Condon Committee. A “Klass–Attack” occurred in the Betty Cash and Vickie Landrum sighting of December 29, 1980.

Cash and Landrum, and Colby Landrum, were on a trek of a Bingo game and they were searching for Marker Road 1485. Coming towards them was a diamond-shaped craft belching flames from its underside. The night was about 40-degrees Fahrenheit but the UFO warmed the witness area. The craft gave out shrill beeping noise when it was not shooting flame. They hid Colby under the dashboard for safety. The witness found the door handle very hot, and then the interior of the auto just as hot.

The object gave out a burst of flame and departed to the south-west. Suddenly, helicopters came streaming toward it. The witnesses then made a turn onto Connector Road FM 2100 and again the craft appeared. The witnesses counted about 20 helicopters trailing the object. Some copters had dual rotors, some had single. Cash claimed to have seen a U.S Air Force insignia on one copter.

The witnesses were in comparatively good health, but about 9:50 p.m., blisters, and swelling began to appear on Betty Cash’s head, face, back and neck as she said she was “burning from the inside out.” The skin under her ring appeared unaffected.

On December 30, Cash began to get a blinding headache, extreme weakness, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. On January 8, 1981, she was taken to Parkway Hospital for 12 days. The symptoms made her unrecognizable to other members of her family, and those symptoms included swelling and seeping sores on face and head.

Betty spent 15 more days in the hospital treatment, including examination by an ophthalmologist, radiologist, a neurologist, and an EEG for metal poisoning.

Records of early blood tests disappeared and other medical records did as well. The hospital checked her for whole-body radiation of a high level. Dr. Brian McClellan discovered non-ionizing radiation, but with an ionizing component: It had been permanent and debilitating with on-going severe headache and nausea, redness of the skin, scarring, loss of pigmentation, eye-inflammation, diarrhea, swelling of the neck, loss of fingernails, hair loss, weight loss, and fatigue.

Colby Landrum contacted stomach pains, diarrhea, weight loss, eye inflammation, hair loss, tooth decay, anxiety, and nightmares. There was temporary photo-sensitivity to the sun. Colby had nightmares that included a fear of helicopters.

Betty’s new 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass had multiple electrical problems and the steering wheel’s plastic material fell off in large clumps. Handprints had left permanent identifications on the padded hot dashboard. The windshield had exploded like it was hit with a baseball bat.

The attorney for the family felt that punitive damages went far beyond the $10,000 hospital bills and he filed Law Suite # 11-84-34B in the U.S District Court for Southern District of Texas for 10-million-dollars. The family eventually lost the suit because the craft and helicopters could not be proven to belong to the government.

The UFO witnesses cooperated fully with MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) investigator John Schuessler when Schuessler contacted the witnesses in February.

Schuessler discovered CH-47 copters at Ellington AFB-South Houston. Also, the Dallas Naval AM station Commanding Officer Major Dennis Haire of the 136^th Transport Unit at the Air Force Base was aware of eight Chinook helicopters with the Army National Guard, as well as 16 of them in Dallas, and also four Hueys and four 58s assigned to Houston.

Major Haire, however, said that no CH-47s were involved on December 29, 1980. Twin rotor helicopters were seen at other dates at Fort Hood. CH-47 Chinook helicopters with Army markings were seen at Ellington AFB on December 28, 1982, but nothing was pinpointed to December 1980.

Later, Police Chief Lammar Walker and his wife claimed to have seen three groups of three Chinook helicopters flying in V-formation within 5 miles of the Ladrum UFO, but Lieutenant Colonel George Sarran of the Army Inspector General’s Office denied such activity (pp. 156-159).

Klass went to extraordinary lengths to obtain the medical records of the witnesses but was rebuffed on personal privacy issues. Klass used other ‘tricks’ to get the family’s medical files by claiming he was only interested in some vague “probability ratio” ruse and again rebuffed when ABC’s That’s Incredible show used a similar prompting on April 1, 1982.

“I will not be a party to this in anyway,” said the doctor.

RADIATION

Dr. Rank believed some type of radiation was involved, though the precise manner could not be definitely ascertained, or whether the whole body was involved: ultra-violet, low-energy x-ray or some particular radiation was suspected, but he felt that the symptoms were consistent with exposure to ionizing radiation causing demagogic symptoms and “no healing ulcerative lesions.”

Robert Sheaffer of CSICOP (Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal), of which Philip Klass was a guiding member, claimed Betty used UV light to induce her own injuries, an action related to some form of her portrayed and alleged “Munchausen Syndrome.”

According to CSI’s charter, the “Committee” maintains a network of people interested in critically examining paranormal, fringe science, and other claims, and in contributing to consumer education; prepares bibliographies of published materials that, supposedly, carefully examine such claims; encourages research by alleged objective and impartial inquiry in areas where it is needed.

Most researchers found Sheaffer’s summation of the Cash-Landrum UFO as slanderous and unscientific. Lieutenant Colonel George Sarran labeled the UFO witnesses as “credible witnesses.” (p.163)

Billy Cox, from the Florida Sarasota Herald Tribune, traveled to Texas to investigate the case and came away convinced that a “very real and tragic event had occurred.” Cox appraised Klass as “…a man who had a pathological disregard for the truth.”

CLASSICAL UFO CASES

The readers will be intrigued by the authors’ equally analytic treatment of other spectacular UFO cases, their particular investigations by proponents and cynics alike, and the growing realization that the anti-UFO factions can’t forever conceal a reality that even the corrupted and criminal thinking of our human ‘elites’ persistently but unsuccessfully continue to try and hide. Such a tacit and quickening realization of reality was encapsulated in the words of culprit Errol Childress to detective Rustin “Rust” Cohle when the sordid confluence of evil, crime, and noir-like bleakness crashed about them: “Take off your mask, little priest!”

What Happened Earlier Before 2013

A blow by blow account and history of what happened at Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, Eastern England December 26 to December 29, 1980, near the Woodbridge and Bentwaters Military Bases: where several people witnessed and recorded the antics of UFOs and occupants. Warren had been ordered into the fray by Sergeant Andrew Bustinza and Second Lieutenant England, and ended in a clearing in Rendlesham along with other military personnel:

“We moved closer. Up a slight incline, thorn bushes tearing at my pants,” described Warren. “Now, I could see what was in the fields. It looked like a ground fog but was somehow lit up from within. It glowed very brightly, with the definition of a roughly shaped circle approximately one foot in height…It was yellow-green and at times appeared almost transparent. Two disaster-preparedness officers walked very close to it in a counterclockwise direction with yellow Geiger counters in hand. Someone was snapping pictures. Off to my right, I saw personnel operating motion-picture cameras – one was handheld, the other mounted on a tripod filming the amazing sight.”

TWO MACHINES

There were an estimated forty-odd people in the field at the moment that another red globe exploded over the area producing a second machine in the shape of a pearl white pyramid in a rainbow of color, distorted, cobalt-blue lights, landing gear, boxes, pipes, extensions, delta-like appendages. Humanoid figures appeared within the glow. Colonel Gordon Williams and other officers conversed with the occupants.

There were several witnesses that added to the train of comments:

“What I once believed is no more, and what I’ve witnessed, defies all that I have ever imagined.” “I am truly in awe over the whole incident, and no one can fully understand the magnitude, of such an event unless you were there.”

As far as what I remember there was something there but I have never called it a being. The interesting mix up was the fact the USAF thought I was Larry Warren talking about what happened out there. “When I arrived it was going in and out through the trees and at one stage it was hovering.

“Then it went over to a clearing at the edge of the forest. By the time we got to the clearing, it had already landed.

“When this thing landed Halt was already there. I didn’t see it land. I saw it take off. It kind of hovered at first and then took off.”

“There were three objects or lights. The largest light was the leading or command vessel. The lights were three vessels that moved independently of each other. They were moving and were able to jump from Woodbridge and show up over Bentwaters in less than a second.”

“While we walked, each one of us would see the lights: blue, red, white, and yellow….lights would seem to be at the edge of the forest. We were almost 100 meters from the edge of the forest when I saw a quick movement; it looked visible for a moment. It looked like it spun left a quarter of a turn, then it was gone.” – Edward N. Cabansac, A1Q, USAF, 81^st Security Police, sq.

BLENDED INTO SOCIETY

The first part of the book covered Warren’s life immediately following the incident, a not too clear portrayal of a cover-up by the government and an attempt to silence Warren. Commander Richardson of the Office of Naval Intelligence was thrown into the middle of those early days, as Warren was forced into a trip to an underground facility beneath Bentwaters. Warren is possibly drugged and eventually squirreled into a Plexiglas cubicle:

“I stepped into the confined area and felt as if I was no longer on earth. I found myself looking into a gigantic, dark cavernous space” – out of which came Warren’s Eureka or epiphany moment with an alien intelligence that told Warren of their ancient connections and how they were aligned with earthly governments; no small revelations. Warren was blacked out and brought back to his dorm room for recovery.

Also part of the early recollections in Warren’s adventure was his compulsion to tell selected individuals of the UFO appearance only to be rebuffed, threatened and somehow quarantined for doing so. Other witnesses had similar experiences.

Earlier, during a debriefing on the UFO incident by the Armed Forces Security Service (AFSS), Warren had been warned to keep silent and to toe-the-line: “One or two of you won’t…bullets are cheap.” This atmosphere continued later when Warren tried to reenlist back into the military and found all his earlier records were unlocatable by the FBI. His code was suddenly 4-M: “Do not process. Nothing follows.” They invented a medical reason that was nonexistent. The Air Force would not proceed. Warren decided to go public to assure his safety by means of public exposure.

UFO BATTLES

The core of the rest of the book told about Warren’s efforts to promulgate the incident, his battle with UFO reporters and debunkers alike, as well as his further expansion into UFO origins and theories and the people that are behind it all.

Part II mentioned a panoply of events such as a “voice-stress analysis” sponsored by the late Walt Andrus of MUFON and the National Enquirer allegedly indicating that Warren was lying in a CNN interview. Such an analysis has been highly questioned, however, to say the least.

For those who felt that Warren was part of the GUN HO New Age Space Religion, think again, Warren said in Part III:

“For me, the most depressing part of the conference was the presence of the New Age movement…I felt their cult-like, glazed-eye attitude was not helping the subject of UFOs to be taken more seriously by the general public…having these people run around…set us back fifty years.”

Warren’s June 1987 lecture at the Washington, D.C. UFO conference had been mysteriously cut from forty-five minutes to fifteen, probably due to Andrus’ skepticism. Warren struggled with the marital and family problems UFOs had continuously caused him, such as the highway over-flight of a triangular craft that harassed him and his wife Cindy. Eventually, tensions over UFOs led to their divorce.

FAMILY ATTACK

In the lives of many UFO participants, UFO sightings seemed to follow the parties throughout their lives. Author Peter Robbins’ UFO connections seemed to go back to 1975 at the age of fourteen. These teenage years appeared, for many adolescents, typical of poltergeist and paranormal activity, but I do not know if ‘‘abduction memories” were characteristic, however. Suddenly, with the advent of Budd Hopkins’ books, everybody had seemingly been “abducted”; this often led to sad tales and perplexities.

“(Jenny) Randle’s co-researchers Dot Street and Brenda Butler soon established a contact on the Air Base who confirmed most of the details of the earlier stories but wouldn’t allow himself to be named either,” said Robbins. “’Wasn’t there anyone except Larry who would go on the record about this?’ I thought as I read.”

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Science-writer and Editor Ian Ridpath and researcher Vince Thurkettle laid the case at the doorstep of a meteor the British Astronomical Society confirmed for December 26-27, as well as the lights from the Orford Ness lighthouse, both supposedly synchronized with human error. Jenny Randle speculated, along with other possibilities, that the UFO could have been a crashed American stealth craft:

“It definitely was not the lighthouse,” said Warren. “The object moved, it was physically moving from side to side. The objects we saw in the sky were not meteors in that they stood in the same position and moved horizontally and occasionally vertically.”

Researchers Ray Boeche and Scott Colburn told of 17-eyewitnesses, along with official documents: “Many of the close witnesses to the events have expressed ongoing problems in dealing with what happened to them during that night…they are troubled by vivid nightmares of the events and are fearful of government reprisals if their role in expressing these events were to become known,” they had seen a dark silver-colored metal object with rainbow-colored lights on it.

REPEATER PHENOMENA

One curious aspect throughout the book, and seen in many other UFO Journals, is the “repeater phenomenon” where a person seemingly has continuous interaction with the phenomenon usually seen as craft flying in the air. I suppose, if UFOs are a real phenomenon, one is bound to see them often; however, some psychologists said it denotes falsity or a willingness to believe.

Warren and Robbins had continual sightings over the years — I’ve counted seven or more in the book—but realizing my personal bouts with nocturnal lights that may have turned out to be ’plain ole’ airplanes or helicopter lights,’ I could only speculate.

MIND GAMES

The interviews with witness Colonel Charles Halt proved interesting, yet very confusing, as tales of deception and accusation crept into the story. These things seemed inevitable the more time that passed and more players became involved. Ray Boeche, Jacques Vallee, and others poached the possibility that a “psychotropic experiment” was performed that night with the use of holograms. Halt felt that Warren was somehow duped, even if a craft was involved:

“…I think Larry Warren has been influenced, and I’ll leave it at that…it’s called disinformation…you’re being used…there’s something funny…”

Halt said that he saw documents showing Larry Warren had not finished his training till mid-January, while Warren said that his training ended December. Warren also said that he had his flight-assignment document as proof. Halt reiterated that Warren had been “meddled” with. Warren agreed that all parties may be part of “somebody’s science project.”

SPOOKY SYNCHRONICITY.

One of the curious and bewildering aspects of Ufology and Fortean phenomenon, in general, was the odd (what the late psychologist C.G. Jung would call) “synchronicity” of the phenomenon. In many ways, the J. F. Kennedy assassination and flying saucers seemed to be strange bed-mates. Other researchers, such as the late Ray Palmer and John Keel, noted the ‘meeting’ of players in both mysteries. Kenn Thomas of THE STEAMSHOVEL PRESS likewise noticed the connections:

About his new book JFK & UFO: MILITARY INDUSTRIAL CONSPIRACY AND COVER UP, Thomas said: “It focuses on the intertwining connections between the Para political world of assassinations and conspiracies, and the Ufological subculture, and how they work together even today.” (July 7, 2011, Greg Bishop) Thomas later credited Jorge Luis Borges for recognizing “the labyrinth,” and said that scientists Paul Kammerer and Albert Einstein indicated that synchronism was a “physics holding the world together.” (October 30, 2011.)

Synchronism happened in the Bentwaters case with the alignment of Gus Russo with Larry Warren. Russo was a chief ‘mystery player’ in the Kennedy scenario. His mention had been latched-upon by assassination investigator Jim Garrison and other parties. It was discovered that Russo suspiciously debunked most pro-conspiracy theories and even supported lone-assassin theories. This same Russo ‘buddied-up’ to Larry Warren.

Part IV showed investigator Chuck Decaro ranting and raving nonsensically in a question and answer interview with Warren and Robbins much like the Madder Hatter in Alice’s Wonderland.

A later interview with Halt again reiterated his suspicion that Warren’s story seemed inconsistent. “It’s more than one thing,” insisted Halt, “the whole area is fraught with East End Charlie stories.”

BUDD HOPKINS REGRESSION

On July 15, 1995, the late UFO analyst Budd Hopkins performed a classical “time regression” hypnotism of Larry Warren. Knowing “what dreams may come” in a typical Hopkins-style hypnotism, one almost shuddered as one began to read the session. Instead of aliens, however, Warren found himself reliving his descent into the aforementioned underground locale and seeing seven other people with him on his trip underground. He never finished the session. Apparently, Larry was abducted, but not by aliens in the normal sense, rather it was by a military presence.

The remainder of the book was decorated with news and mementos on the incident. Robbins located a UFO sighting by Airman David Dickerson in the summer of 1983 in Ford Keep. Dickerson knew Halt, Warren, and Greg Battram. The closing of the book carried Warren’s and Robbin’s speculation about CIA and government “destabilization.”

Following, in a further mysterious development, Sgt. Jim Penniston told the History Channel that when he had touched the Alien craft in Rendlesham Forest he was somehow given a download of info in the form of binary numbers, which he had recorded in 12 pages of his diary.

Another recent written statement came from Jim Penniston on the mysterious Rendlesham Forest Binary Code:

“The binary codes were a direct result of contact with a physical craft; a craft of unknown origin. Meaning it was an unidentified craft and where it came from is still unknown.”

“The communication of binary codes was accomplished when I physically touch the craft’s glyphs, which were located on the outside skin of the craft. It activated a technology which is unknown to me, and apparently to everyone else too. The technology then communicated a series of ones and zeros to me. The communication transfer was accomplished within minutes. There was an area of about fifteen feet which surrounded the outside of the craft. This area I will call the bubble: For within the bubble, static electric pulsed upon my clothes, skin, and hair; also an appearance of slowing of time. The air seemed dead, not transmitting any sound.”

“…28 – 29, December, 1980…photographs, and film were shot, and later classified. Witnesses were debriefed; later, some were meddled with by its members of the Intelligence Community, who played an opportunistic, or parasitic role, after the facts,” said Warren. “Purpose: unknown.”

Tactical teams from Germany had flown in on an unmarked C130 aircraft to check damage to the nuclear arsenal at Woodbridge.

Peter Robbins said that he felt the NSA (National Security Agency) also ran a psych-ops operation at Bentwaters: where reality ‘ends’ and mind control games by the government ‘begins’ is untested, said Robbins, or even unobtainable.

“I believe the craft and life-forms we saw in Rendlesham Forest were from another reality altogether,” said Warren. “This stuff doesn’t have to be from planet X, does it? The phenomena may originate closer then we think…It involved a number of vehicles and living beings, alien in every sense, that doesn’t reside in our concept of reality.”

Amongst stories, charges and counter-charges, the bedrock of Ufology to date contained hopeless solutions for those who grope with the mystified topic.

“A secret is still being kept at Bentwaters,” said Warren. “Our governments don’t want us to know what that secret is.”

“Nothing less than our right to the truth is at stake,” said Robbins.

Both UFO witnesses, Jim Penniston, and John Burrough, had forged ahead with additional testimony that will hopefully clarify much of the confusion in a co-authored book by St. Martin’s Press:

“It is our belief that the Rendlesham Forest incident is a bigger and more significant UFO case than Roswell. It is our intention, in this book, to place into the public domain everything that we know about the extraordinary series of events that took place at Bentwaters and Woodbridge, both during the encounters themselves and in the aftermath. While there have been previous books on the subject, they have been written by people in the UFO community. Now, the military personnel at the heart of this incident will finally have their say.

“This case has been deviled by misinformation, disinformation and by people wanting to write themselves into the story. We intend to set the record straight and tell the full story of these extraordinary events for the first time. We do so in order to reveal the truth about events that we believe are of immense historical significance and public interest. We also do so for the men and women stationed at Bentwaters and Woodbridge at the time, many of whom have suffered as a result of what happened. It is our hope that the publication of this book will lead to the wrongs they have suffered.”

Unfortunately, or fortunately, as the case may be, the episode is not settled in the minds of various researchers and for multiple reasons.

There has arisen a legacy and syndrome of investigators that are dedicated to discovering various falsehood, inaccuracies, and suspicions in a witness’ testimony. These researchers feel the following examples indicate reasons to doubt the story of Larry Warren, or, at least, cause suspicion:

Peter Robbins, the co-author of the book, recently wrote an ‘Open Letter‘ discussing the mounting feuds and hard-feelings the two authors were developing over a period of time. His comments are long and winding, but for the most part, it has to do with Warren’s increasing bad temperament and the seeming contradictions in some of Warren’s statements as discerned by Robbins. A fair of amount of Robbins’s concerns centered on suspected forgeries and “aside actions” by Warren with people outside of the Rendlesham UFO case that Robbins felt justified expurgations. Warren had made claims of knowing celebrities and receiving special items from such celebrities as John Lennon and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Lennon’s girlfriend, May Pang, told Robbins that no such actions took place, and older brother Jimmy Vaughan said the details made about the guitar Warren said he possessed was not accurate as well. For a full listing of Robbins’s suspicions, one should read the ‘Open Letter.’

“Even so, I still did not want to believe you were responsible for creating the photo. In an attempt to exclude this possibility, I used Google’s ‘Reverse Image Search’ to see if I could rule out a similar, separate photo of John,” said Robbins at one point. “Image Search works a lot like modern fingerprint search technology. You enter any photo ever taken, then search for it or the closest ones to it. If the picture appears anywhere on the internet, Image Search will find it. As it turned out a pair of pictures comes right up. They were taken seconds before or after the one you’re paired with John in, only they have a completely different background, and John’s mouth is as clear as the rest as the photograph and not with the mouth strangely smudged as in one of you and John. Yours is a bogus photograph Larry, yet you insist it’s not. Not good.”

One of the more popular critics that had specialized in the analysis of Warren’s claims is Sacha Christie, a self-described “Anti-pharmageddonist, ufologist, par-abnormal investigator.” Christie had developed a series of blogs dedicated to the suspicions in Warren’s claims, highlighting her talking to witnesses and tracking down who bought or was given what, when and where, particularly Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitar. She also contested the origin of the an infamous “A10” UFO photograph taken on December 28, 1980 by Warren, giving her findings that (tracing it through conversations with Barry Greenwood, Larry Fawcett, Bruce Maccabee and a Paul Dean) it was a copy of Victor Nevada’s UFO photo of July 2, 2004. Her arguments were projected in approximately five or so blogs, of which three are no longer open on the Internet. First, we list the blogs that are still available and then list the ones that have become closed (apparently since September 25, 2017, when we viewed them).

On June 13, 2017, she said: “It is as ugly, contentious, and vicious as we’ve seen, if not more in the seventy years since the so-called Modern Age of UFOs came into being.”

Wikipedia summarized it this way: “Although UFOlogist Nick Pope, previously endorsed Warren’s story contained in his book Left at East Gate. He is now in agreement with some military personnel closely involved in the Rendlesham Forest incident, who have gone on record saying that they refuse to believe that Larry Warren was involved in it at all, especially with recent evidence. His account differs significantly from that of Lt. Col Charles I. Halt, the most senior witness, who actually states ‘(Warren) was not there.’ Other researchers and Larry Warren’s family dispute these claims. They allege that Warren has merely been targeted by a smear campaign motivated by purely personal issues and the supposed evidence against him is fabricated.”

DEEPER CRITICISMS

In a blog commentary by Reddit.com (RRJA711) on or about August 22, 2015, researcher ‘topographer‘ took the so-called ‘Code‘ to task in the blog titled “Does the Penniston ‘Binary Code‘ Story Harm the Rendlesham Forest UFO Report?”

“The whole Rendlesham forest story has holes everywhere – http://www.ianridpath.com/ufo/rendlesham1a.htm – worse than the binary codes saying Jim Penniston is on a private mission to save the world (are) the handwritten base report statements at the time by everyone involved saying they, themselves, misidentified a beacon light, then a farmhouse light and ultimately the lighthouse before heading in for the night suitable embarrassed. Both Bourroughs and Cabansag said it was just farmhouse lights. But right from the start, Penniston was playing it up talking about lights in the distance…(nothing about a UFO – http://www.ianridpath.com/ufo/rendlesham2c.htm. The whole story is a farce and there (are) loads of evidence pointing to that on those links.

“I feel like Rendlesham has been sensationalized so much because its one of the few major UFO cases to be based outside America and documentaries were looking for something a bit more modern than Roswell.”

Pseudo-science masquerading as science. Real science descending to the level of pseudo-science. Rendlesham and Roswell have it all.”

DEFENSES OF LARRY WARREN

We can speculate as to why certain blogs disappear, perhaps for legal reasons, but Warren’s protagonists and defenders also had disappearing blogs. Still, one of his biggest proponents and defenders was a former police detective Gary Heseltine. The following are a few defending comments out of his remaining blogs:

“My own position is simple: I’ve seen no reason at all to denounce Larry as a fake UFO whistle-blower…but a heart of gold breaks beneath that volatile exterior.”

Heseltine is quick to point out that “Larry Warren’s letter written to his mother January 7, 1981 (reported) a UFO sighting at the Base (and) predates the now-famous Halt Memorandum,” a first-ever written evidence of a Rendlesham UFO.

The same sentiment was reported on earthmysterynews.com: “If it were not for Larry Warren this story would be unknown to the world as it was a nuclear-tampering case involving Extraterrestrials. It was Gary Heseltine that received an honorary award in 2010 for his breaking news, who likewise similarly awarded Warren, and this was credited by Peter Robbins in an October comment: “Congratulations again on your award from Gary.”

In a May 1, 2017 interview on J.P. Robinson’s website, Warren repeats again some of the things that he has said in other interviews:

(Deputy Base Commander) “Halt lies about me and other 81’s and also the events, and has done so for the last 35 years.”
“It (the UFO incident) could either have been induced by spooks or it is what it is? Either way, we are screwed!… I believe it was orchestrated.”
Warren said the UFO landing findings were confirmed by Matt Moniz of the Springborn Laboratories.

It would have been the honest thing to tell us that Nick was 15 in 1980.

“Because of his lack of disclosure, I have no use for Nick Pope. My respect goes to those who worked at the 81st Security Police Squadron and put up with a lot. It was critic Sacha Christie that concluded that the Rendlesham Incident drew “good people who have come to increasingly demonize each other and allow hared, frustration and fear to rule their lives,” to which Gary Heseltine replied: “It seems to me that you are either the world’s worst judge of character…(about Christie) she is like a chameleon. She can be very complimentary and charming to people when she sees them as useful to her and then turns immediately into a caustic antagonist against those who resist her. LARRY WARREN SPEAKS OUT AGAIN

A YouTube dated May 21, 2017, as an “on-site” adventure/interview conducted by Ben the reporter, appeared to be a forthright and vivid video, producing the following comments by Julian Carver:

“One of the reasons why Larry’s story stands up for me…is his attention to detail…almost photographic memory he seems to have. No way could this guy hold this story together for over 30 years if he was bull-shitting. Larry also doesn’t show any mental or signs of physical damage from addictions to substance abuse, as others claim about him. I’ve met plenty of bull-shitters in my time. None of them could ever hold a story together like Larry. I believe Larry is the real deal. Certain others including (Col. Halt) in this story are part of the cover-up, deliberately rubbishing Larry’s account.

Yet, however, it is Colonel Halt’s added discoveries that are helping to confirm that others reported a UFO over the base in December 1980, as reviewed in an August 21, 2015, HuffingtonPost article by Lee Speigel in which Halt discovered “sworn statements from Air Traffic Controllers on duty in 1980 at Bentwaters…witnessed a UFO on radar performing incredible aerial maneuvers…they saw the object go across their scope – a 60-mile scope – in two or three seconds. Thousands of miles an hour. It came across their scope again, stopped near the water tower. They observed it. They watched it go over into the forest where we were.”

Ironically, similarly, it was the, now dissenting, co-author Peter Robbins, himself, that saw UFOs at Bentwaters at a post-1980 visit (Jim Martin, Thursday, November 12, 2012):

“Left at Eastgate reveals the National Security Agency (NSA) as the main governmental entity behind the UFO cover-up, or if you prefer, disinformation/collective fantasy/fairy tale. Peter Robbins soon found himself under the NSA’s open scrutiny and covert harassment when he got deeper into the research. He also found himself an up-close and personal witness to strange doings at Bentwaters, and finally was forced to struggle with the fact that he was no longer an ‘objective observer.’ One of the most memorable passages of the book is the transcript of an audio tape of Larry and Peter, on a return visit to the site many years later, as they see and describe what appear to be UFOs buzzing around near Bentwaters. ENDLESS DEBUNKING

Like many UFO stories and incidents to date, the Rendlesham case has gathered its share of counter-theories and debunking scenarios, some of which are as bizarre as the reported original story.

In a Jon Austin article of the September 12, 2017, express.co.uk blog, Russ Callaghan’s explanation of the 1980 Rendlesham UFO is divulged: The 67th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron (67th ARRS) were doing exercises utilizing a recovered space capsule, and “the chopper pilot dropped the capsule into Rendlesham Forest” by accident.

Needless to say, other researchers questioned the theory because of the noise of the helicopter and the fact that there was no such military flight schedule at that time. Neither did the alleged ‘exercise’ fit the reported facts.

SHUTDOWN

That stentorian statement is backed by Robert Salas’ 32 years he had worked for the government, seven years on active duty as a graduate of the U.S Air Force Academy, a weapons controller, launch officer for intercontinental ballistic missiles, Air Force propulsion engineer at Martin-Marietta on the Titan III Program, and 21 years for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as an aircraft structure engineer.

Nothing, however, gives him as much spiritual and etheric power to speak on the topic as to when he was a witness to a March 24, 1967 shutdown of 10 ballistic missiles that went dead – 20 shutdowns in a week – a “crap out” from their alert status.

(“UFOs were seen more frequently around areas vital to the defense of the United States. The Los Alamos-Albuquerque area, Oak Ridge, and White Sands Proving Ground rated high.” Ruppelt, Edward J. [Captain Ruppelt was Chief of the Air Force’s “Project Blue Book” from 1951 to Sept. 1953, an operation of the “Air Technical Intelligence Center” [ATIC]. Salas recounts events that “Airman Smith” (a pseudonym) participated in an invasion when he worked at Echo Site on March 16, 1967, as a targeting technician. Smith was notified that the missiles “had gone down” as they were working on the Echo Flight LF. At some point into the acquisition of the autocollimator, a failure occurred.

“About this time, the top side security guard shook the ladder and motioned for Airman Smith to come up the ladder,” says Salas. “When he reached ground level, he could see a large, glowing, orange-colored sphere, stationary at about 30 degrees from the horizon, in the direction of the gate and close to the site.”

Airman Smith notified the team chief who was visibly frightened by the sight of the object. Smith ordered the “shaken” guard to report the sighting to the Wing Command Post through the Sensitive Information Network (SIN), but the line would not connect. Smith and two other team-members tried the startup procedure several times, only to “crap out” at collimator acquisition.

The object was still above the site while this was happening. Smith observed the object to pulsate and give off a low hum and he felt an electrostatic energy coming from the object.

“The object was present for at least an hour; however, the guard told him later that it would periodically move away for a short time and then return,” says Salas. “After considerable inhibiting the startup, it left the area; the missile was then brought back to Alert status with no anomalies whatever during collimator acquisition.”

Salas also relates an incident of a technician called “Tex” (this may have also been ‘Smith’) to UFO researchers Sean Casteel and John Weigle (October 29, 2013). They related the tale:

“Further confirmation came from a source called ‘Tex,’ who prefers to remain anonymous since he is currently the vice president of a prominent aerospace company. Tex said that he was working through a checklist to bring an Echo Flight missile back online when a guard called him to the surface to see a UFO hovering over the site. He returned to his work and started to bring the missile back up.

“He gets to a certain point in the checklist,” Salas said, “and the missile shuts down again. This object is still up there. In fact, he can feel the electrical energy coming down the tube right where he is. He said he felt almost like he was immersed in static electricity. But he tried this many, many times, he said, trying to bring the missile back up on alert using his checklist. When he got to this particular point on the checklist, he said, the missile shut down again.

“To Tex, whatever it was knew exactly how the missile system worked and knew it in great detail.”

MARCH 24, 1967

A similar scenario took place when Salas was on duty on March 24, 1967.

Salas received a call from the flight security controller (FSC) reporting strange “lights” about the facility observed by several security personnel. The lights moved erratically and would sometimes hover and reverse direction, often at high speeds. The FSC called again and agitatedly told that an object was hovering over the front gate. Salas ordered them to stand ready with weapons and to let no one enter.

Salas alerted Colonel Fred Meiwald as they began to get audible alarms and indicator lights on their status board. “All of our missiles were indicating NO-GO; they were all disabled.”

Fred Meiwald phoned in the NO-GO status at Oscar Flight to the Wing Command Post. Meiwald stated: “The same thing happened at another flight!” Salas later discovered the Oscar Flight incident was not mentioned in any of the reports of the Echo Flight investigation.

Lieutenant Robert Jamison was a targeting officer assigned to the 341^st Missile Maintenance Squadron. He stated in his affidavit that he was called out one evening to restart Oscar Flight – all ten missiles were NO-GO. Jamison testified that he had to wait about three hours before he was given the go-ahead to proceed to Oscar Flight. Jamison told of the following facts:

# All targeting teams received a “special UFO briefing” prior to each dispatch for the next two weeks after the March incident.

# They were to report any UFO activity to the Missile Command Post and to take self-defense measures if necessary.

# Jamison was told about the Echo Flight shutdowns and UFO encounters.

Despite multiple witnessing and much evidence, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Chase of the Air Force Chief of Staff and the Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson (TDET) concluded the incident as having “no equipment malfunctions and abnormalities.” (p. 59)

“These are blatantly false statements,” says Salas, “I and others can attest that were ordered not to talk to anyone about our incident and that our equipment certainly did malfunction.”

CONDON TRICKERY

Salas recounts his meeting with the infamous University of Colorado UFO Study Group (headed by Edward U. Condon). The Condon Committee, as it also became to be called, was eventually exposed as a negative, contrived and “orchestrated” study. Condon Committee investigator Dr. Roy Craig was asked to investigate at Malmstrom on October 9 to 14, 1967.

“The report of the shutdowns was cloaked in secrecy even before Craig arrived at Malmstrom,” says Salas, “the depth of that secrecy would soon be escalated after his arrival.”

Craig turned over what limited information he was given by the Air Force to co-investigator Condon Deputy Robert Low. It was Low that wrote in an August, 1966 memo: “The trick would be, I think, to describe the project so that, to the public, it would appear a totally objective study, but to the scientific community, would present the image of a group of nonbelievers trying their best to be objective, but having an almost zero expectation of finding a saucer.”

Largely because of his experience with UFOs, Salas becomes acquainted with the growth of the Military-Industrial-Complex and its skeleton of secrecy that smothers and is tyrannical. He traces the creation of the U.S Air Force Project Sign, watches it grow into an uglier Project Grudge, blossom again into a brighter Project Bluebook, only to be crushed beneath the CIA Robertson Committee Panel of the January, 1953 and its “disinformation campaign to discredit the phenomena…keeping the UFO question in the realm of incredulity…” (p. 25.)

Also pivotal to Salas and the UFO situation was the Manhattan Project and the creation of the atomic bomb: this strengthened the structure of “holding a secret (as having) always been a way of having some sort of power over others.”

THE LONG WALK

Salas speaks of the September 1948 Top Secret “Estimate of the Situation” that states that UFOs were spaceships:

“In fact, the highest levels of our government did know for certain that these were interplanetary,” says Salas, “because they had already recovered extraterrestrial craft and beings from the 1947 Roswell crash in New Mexico.” (p. 22)

Quickly following the 1947 UFO events began a series of happenings whose momentum in negativity has become nonstop ever since:

# The 1949 Project Grudge two-phase approach: explaining all UFO reports and, secondly, convincing the public, which Grudge pursued wholeheartedly.

# The “hardening” of the government’s seeming “negative approach” following the July, 1952 UFO buzzing of the nation’s Capital in Washington, D.C.

# The forming of the January 1953 CIA Robertson Committee Panel “to establish a disinformation campaign to discredit the phenomena.”

“Here in the United States this excessive secrecy has been ongoing for such a long period of time that many abuses by various government agencies,” says Salas, “have and continue to degrade the conversation of our democratic principles – government of, by, and for the people.”

# A 2010 information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) report indicated there were 76.8 million classification decisions, a more than 40 percent increase from 2009; a cost of $10.2 billion in 2010.

# To combat the UFO situation, governments have formed “a secret organizational structure, a cabal,” devoted to a huge zero-sum game with the public. “As long as there is no public disclosure about the UFO reality, the game goes on and there are no absolute winners or losers.” One side, the public (so-to-speak) would attempt to represent more credible UFO evidence; the cabal, on the other hand, consists of disinformation, debunking, silencing, intimidation, and ridicule. As the readers will see, Salas goes through several examples.

“Clearly there is a cover-up of the UFO phenomena,” says Salas, “and clearly the forces in favor of disclosure are at a disadvantage in winning this game. The prize is the entire pie. We want total disclosure and the other side wants to keep completely hidden.” (p. 97)

THE CABAL

Salas points at noted individuals in the cabal such as the late engineer Wilber Smith, the late Dr. Vannevar Bush, the late Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter, and Salas presently includes a CORE group with “the highest security rating and priority.” That team is also called the “Secret Group” by researcher Raymond Fowler. Salas charts what he believes to be the general flow and organization of the CORE group. Salas outlines what CORE may have learned about UFO activity: invisibility and the control of natural energy sources are two characteristics.

The nature of the “enemy” is highlighted by one specific incident:

A principal Civil Aviation Administration air traffic controller, Harry Barnes, distinctly felt that the 1952 UFOs over Washington, D.C could read his thoughts as they darted about over the Capitol. A pilot reported that he “heard his first name called out by a strange voice transmission. Military radio transmissions between aircraft do not use first names of pilots!”

COMPILATION OF INTERESTING SIGHTINGS

Salas portrays several favorites, little-known and unusual sightings that he feels support the reality of the phenomena. Some are large triangular UFOs, others flew over nuclear missile bases.

A typical case was that of Josie Zwinanberg who spotted a UFO near the Soesterbuerg, Netherland’s 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron on February 2 and 3, 1979. The object had a number of brilliant but mystically blue lights that shone from it as the object buzzed the airfield. On the 3^rd, the object emitted a beam of light to the ground. It was seen by many airmen at the base.

Thirty-one years later in the summer of 2011, while Zwinenberg vacationed in Ireland, she was approached by a “Tom” – a total stranger – who related details of her sightings, even tiny items and intimate information (such as the rustling of leaves) that only Zwinenberg knew.

Part of Salas’ chronology of events, in the latter part of the book, concerns the human abduction phenomena, which Salas naturally includes in his array of UFO events. Salas extrapolates findings from researchers such as Dr. Budd Hopkins, Dr. John Mack and Yvonne Smith of the Close Encounter Research Organization.

“Essentially all abductees seemed to be given some information, messages, special abilities, direction, or some special ‘mission’ to perform upon their return,” says Salas. “While there is little doubt that some sort of hybridization program is on-going, there is also little doubt that ETs are trying to somehow ‘improve’ our species.”

NUCLEAR DETERRENCE AND SALVATION

One of the greatest concerns about the ETs must be, says Salas, that of nuclear deterrence, human destruction, and the secrecy surrounding these topics commanding “fairness, honesty, equal treatment, mutual respect, openness, and accountability to the people.” Salas concludes:

“If we do nothing, we allow excessive secrecy, we allow corruption to take hold, we allow unnecessary wars to happen, we allow a few to control us and our lives without our consent, and we allow a few to decide how we will interact with extraterrestrial life.”

CRITICS AND THE AFTERMATH

Salas’ quest, however, has not been without its critics and problems. Critic Tim Hebert (a former SAC missile crew commander and staff officer, currently in the healthcare field with a RN, BASN and MSA), however, even detailed UFO activity surrounding and prior to the Malmstrom case:

“Jan 9, 1967: Malta, MT at 9 p.m., on family farm. Family alerted by dog, family saw a large rectangular object with glowing red light along the bottom and large amber light on top moving at high speed. The object landed in a field for approximately one hour. Object suddenly disappeared as if it took off at a high rate of speed. The next day, family went to the field were the object had landed. There were no tracks in the snow and no sign that anything had been there. (Billings Gazette, 1-20-67.)

“Jan 26, 1967: Havre, MT at 8:15 p.m. A man saw a yellow sphere with blinking yellow body lights which circled a mountain and flew off (nicap.org).

“Feb 9, 1967: Chester, MT, 6:30 a.m., Railroad foreman saw a saucer (disk) with bright body of light hovering over the railroad depot. The depot was engulfed in light, the object departed straight up. (Spokane Spokesman–Review, 2/12/67.)

“Feb 23, 1967 Glasgow AFB, MT, reported sighting by NICAP (no details listed).

“Mar 22, 1967: Newspaper article (UPI), ‘UFOs Seen in Great Falls Vicinity,’ The Daily Inter Lake. Tuesday night, 7:45 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., several persons reported seeing unidentified flying objects over the Great Falls, Vaughn, Fort Benton, and Manchester. White lights, big with a little one on top. The object was moving east to west then north to south.

“Mar 23, 1967: Great Falls, MT, 9 p.m.: Sheriffs deputies saw a yellow object with a red glow coming from top to bottom. Object hovered then flew away; Many sightings throughout the state (Great Falls Leader, 3/24/67).

“Mar 24, 1967: Belt, MT, 9 p.m., Truck driver outside of Belt, MT sees a dome-shaped object showing bright lights and landing in a nearby ravine (Investigated by Project Blue Book).”

Hebert, a confessed debunker, unfortunately, did not feel the UFO activity connected with any missile failures on the two major missile fiascos of March 16 and 24, 1967. Herbert gives a short summary of events on his website (dated November 26, 2010):

“The letter in its basic meaning set in motion for OOMA, Boeing, Autonetics and 15th AF to provide support to evaluate the situation and find a cause and correction as detailed in the 341st SMS Wing’s history.

“We must have an in-depth analysis to determine cause and corrective action…..

“The UFO theory backers have used the Malmstrom Incident to foster the notion that a portion of the U.S. nuclear arsenal was neutralized by a UFO. True, ten ICBMs were off alert for one to two days, but no damage was done to the ICBMs themselves. And most importantly, the RVs remained under positive control! There was no ‘Broken Arrow’ called either by the 341st SMW or by SAC!

“So far, I’ve shown that of the 10 Echo Flight ICBMs in question:

“1. Shutdowns occurred due to a then never seen electrical anomaly.

“2. This anomaly was thoroughly evaluated by SAC, 15th Air Force, 341st SMW, Boeing, Autonetics, OOMA (Hill AFB), and AF Systems Command.

“3. Due to the on-going investigation a serious weapon system vulnerability was discovered (EMP susceptibility)

“4. A fix was implemented force-wide.

“5. After 16 Mar 1967, this type of anomaly would never again occur in any Minuteman wing/system.”

Supporters of Hebert tended to agree with him that the shutdown was caused by an electronic flux and that the reported UFOs started out as a practical joke. Other criticisms that Hebert held are that Salas mentions maintenance personnel seeing the UFOs: this was not possible as they are usually inside the LF/silo and the names and identities of witnesses to the UFOs are not given.

James Carlson, whose father was an intimate witness in 1967, took an even stronger stance on February 3, 2013, when he said:

“There were only two witnesses at Echo Flight in March 1967: the commander of the flight, Captain Eric D. Carlson, and the deputy commander, Colonial Walter Figel, Jr. Both men have publicly affirmed that there was no UFO. Robert Salas and Robert Hastings are both merely agitators — one liar and the other a fraud — who have repeatedly misrepresented the claims of the men involved in these incidents. They started utilizing these methods years ago, found out that it made their claims convincing to a few ignorant people, and continued this path of slander and disruption as a result of their minor and isolated successes. They are petty con-man and fraudulent hucksters — nothing more.”

NO SIMPLE SOLUTION

Richard Dolan – UFO Investigator

Salas’ book is largely a response to these criticisms. Prior to the book, however, famed UFO researcher Richard Dolan spoke in defense of Robert Salas on his website (October 7, 2010, The Malmstrom UFO Event: Did it Really Happen?):

“Furthermore, since I believe Bob Salas is truthful – despite some early mistakes in his telling of the story – I have no reason to doubt him when he said he heard of the same thing at another location, indicating that there may well indeed have been a UFO over Echo.

“No doubt my own examination of this case will not please the critics, but I sincerely thank them for bringing it to my attention. I hope that they understand that, whatever I have said, I have done so in a spirit of discovery and collegiality.

“I want to add that when I began looking into the allegations, I did not do so with a preconceived conclusion in mind. I tried very hard to let reason, not emotion, be my guide. I admit that the allegations about Salas disturbed me, but I was determined not to let that guide my own analysis. There is no use investing yourself in a bad case. Everyone makes mistakes at one point or another. No one is immune to that fate, and the best solution is simply to prevent you from becoming emotionally attached to any conclusion. Therefore, when we learn new information, we can always modify our position.

“At this stage, I remain of the opinion that there was indeed one or more UFO events connected with the shut-down of missiles at Malmstrom Air Force Base. The case is not the slam-dunk that many of us had assumed, but I believe it is stronger than the critics have argued. And I certainly am not persuaded that key promoters of the case are liars.

“Sorting out precise dates and sequences years after the fact is always going to be messy. It has happened many times and will continue to happen. Added to this is the fact that the U.S. Air Force, as well as every segment of the U.S. defense and intelligence establishment, has never cooperated on the release of UFO-related information — for reasons that one may defend or attack. In such a situation, it is not realistic to expect claimants of a case to provide the smoking gun that skeptics demand.”

Salas amply points out that there were no nuclear-atomic-explosions during that period – and for many months surrounding the missile failures from March 10 to April 4, 1967.

DIVERGENCE OF ENCOUNTERS

Such “disabling” UFO encounters are not new to UFO history. We can only point out a few (because of space limitations) that are typical:

On August 16, 1954, about 5:00 p.m., approximately 200,000 residents and Edward Campagnac (director of Air France) saw an “electric green ball” as a “lens-shaped plasma” made several passes over the town of Tananarive, Madagascar. November 4, 1957, two sentries were badly burned by an approaching orange disk that slowly descended over the military fort at Itaipu, Brazil. The UFO issued a buzzing sound and all communication devices ceased operating at 2:30 a.m. (though they were set to alarm at 5:00 a.m.). The guards received 2^nd and 1^st degree burns. In 1977 the Brazilian island of Colares and the area of the Amazon delta were visited by flying objects of an unknown source. Nearly all kinds of UFOs were seen as big, some small, saucer-shaped, cigar-shaped, barrel-shaped, and luminous objects. They arrived generally from the Northern sky every day, and also sometimes from underwater. The activity lasted for months as some Island inhabitants were targeted by the objects beaming strange lights at them resulting in injury. The Air Force came, investigated, observed and reported. The bizarre rays wounded thirty-five people. Civilians fled from entire villages.

“During the months of September through December 1977, the Brazillian Air-Force under the command of a Captain Uyrang Hollanda, was sent to the island of Colares to investigate a series of incidents in which over 80 people reported being attacked by beams of light from UFO’s, paralyzing two of them and leaving puncture and burn marks on their skin. The investigation was codenamed ‘Operation Saucer.’ This operation collated over 15 hours of film, 500 photos, and hundreds of documents with detailed drawings and interviews with over 3000 witnesses.

FRIEND OR FOE: UFOs?

Donald A. Johnson, Ph.D., noted researcher into the geographic occurrences of UFO sightings, concluded: “So we are left with a somewhat troubling finding. Apparently UFO reports do occur more frequently in the vicinity of nuclear sites, after controlling for population and the region of the country. Given that the motives of the intelligences behind UFOs, assuming that UFOs are intelligently controlled, are not well known, we should be concerned. Given the long history of UFO incursions at sensitive, highly-restricted nuclear facilities; and given that the events of September 11, 2001 have drawn attention to the vulnerability of nuclear power plants to terrorist acts; it would seem to behoove national security agencies to re-direct some attention to the issue of UFOs entering restricted air space over nuclear facilities. Thomas described himself as an amateur historian of over forty years with a library of over eleven hundred non-fiction books on history, religion, philosophy and the modern sciences (p. 533). He dedicated his work to answer three major questions: where do we come from, what is the purpose of life, and what is humankind’s destiny?

EARLY CIVILIZATION COMPLEXITY

The Mysterious Temple Complex of Baalbek

Thomas tentatively began his quest with questions about the magnificent “stone work” of the ancients. He spoke of the miraculous construction in Lebanon at Baalbek in the Beka Valley. There were also Egyptian monuments. One was the Great Pyramid. Thomas outlined the work of American engineer Christopher Dun:

“This evidence is to be found in direct and clearly visible markings and the abrasion of trace impressions, left by sophisticated machinery on extremely hard stone surfaces,” said Thomas, “used in the construction of the pyramids and many other stone objects found throughout the Great Pyramid and Egyptian ruins.”

Thomas marveled over how ancients came to possess knowledge of the “precession of the equinoxes,” the Giza Star Map, the Piri Reis maps, and the Mayan Aztec Calendar.

“There has been no paradigm shift in our thinking to account for the fact that someone in history prior to our present era,” said Thomas about the Piri Reis map, “had the ability to see through the ice masses of Antarctica up to two miles thick and map the coastline.”

The Mayan–Aztec Calendar: “…it remains clear that the degree of scientific knowledge and understanding that is demonstrated in the construction and the function of this calendar is far beyond any other single achievement that has been discovered in relationship to these cultures to date,” said Thomas. “The information contained in these calendars is not primitive, but highly advanced.”

Tiahuanaco–Lake Titicaca: This included the Gateway of the Sun, Puma Punko, and the Kalasasaya Temple. “By any reasonable standard of measure the structure and function of the ruins at Tiahuanaco are beyond present understanding in relationship to the remote time in history during which they were constructed,” said Thomas, “to discover their purpose we must engage a new way of thinking…”

Quimbay Jets: These ancient Pre-Columbian artifacts were a hypersonic aeronautic design and replica of the NASA space shuttle. “It is not a stylized bird, bug or fish as described in the window of the display cases of the museums where they are kept,” said Thomas. “It is a stylized jet aircraft. No amount of weaseling around it will change the fact.”

Sixteen-times-larger, scale models from balsa wood, fitted with a small airplane propeller engine in one model, jet engine in the other, flew flawlessly “without any modifications to the original Baya design.”

“There is no question that advanced knowledge existed in the past,” said Thomas. “Though it may seem by some to be a rebellious position to take, we don’t dismiss the evidence by living in denial and refusing to accept the logical and obvious.”

THE ZACHARIA SITCHIN LEGACY

Thomas spent considerable discussion about Zecharia Sitchin’s research into the Sumerian accounts of alien Anunnaki from Nibiru. “With their ability to negotiate interstellar space travel,” said Thomas, “the Anunnaki were clearly much further down the path of scientific knowledge than we are in our current state of understanding. They would certainly have mastered many of the secrets of genetics which enable an increased life span.”

Thomas created a drama-of-events about Anunnaki history based on Sumerian legends, much like Zecharia Sitchin’s research. This involved advanced technology, including genetic tampering of homosapienssapiens. The Book of Enoch portrayed these events; the Epic of Gilgamesh, The Old Testament, Indian Mahabharata and Vedas, as well as a host of legends and myths.

“Though the Anunnaki no longer maintained a permanent presence on Earth after approximately 2500 B.C.,” said Thomas. “There are many historical indications that they continued to have a directly supportive and influential role in shaping historical affairs. They occasionally appear on Earth and influence landmark events and provide pivotal assistance to key historical figures.”

ANNUNAKI BLOOD LINE

Thomas detailed the Anunnaki presence in Mesopotamia going back hundreds of thousands of years. “These objects include the Sumerian King Lists, engraved on clay tablets and cylinder seals which have been recovered by archeologists from buried Mesopotamian cities,” said Thomas. “The King Lists record the history of each individual ruler in Mesopotamian cities, extending back in time and consecutively uninterrupted for almost 400,000 years.”

Thomas examined a Post-Deluge period were the Anunnaki biological knowledge helped “jump-start” rejuvenation in Sumer. Their chief goal was to “re-establish intelligent life with sentient beings and then, at some point after this was accomplished, depart.” (p. 172) Cro-Magnon-man-rule was a matrix of distorted history and the gradual inventions of Eastern and Western religions. The Israelites appeared to be a favorite in the Anunnaki experiment. The Anunnaki infused rituals such as the Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai. Thomas claimed they would intervene from time to time.

In the Historical Epoch, 2000 B.C. – 500 B.C., diversity in religious belief began to expand. “Religion was the main means of passing knowledge from one generation to the next,” said Thomas. “In the absence of the Anunnaki, there was no central authority to keep the true story of human creation intact.” The priests only knew secret records and codes. The vast earthly population was illiterate. A certain amount of religious conformity holds remnants of truth. Many nations devolved, “…becoming more harsh and cruel…slavery was prominent…”

SOCIETAL DEVOLUTION

Thomas saw most early historical truths as hidden and distorted by religion. Catholicism seemed to have been the biggest culprit. The reality of reincarnation and the unfiltered teachings of Jesus were components of distortion and censorship.

“By declaring Gnostic teaching a heresy, it enabled some of the most important knowledge to remain hidden and exclusive,” said Thomas. “…all that remained underneath the pompous, self-serving pageantry and glorified presentation was an empty shell.” (pp. 230-231)

(Other modern and scientific critics, however, dismissed Sitchin and other Anunnaki promulgators as poor and even bad historians and scientists that did not devote the time and energy to examine the true context of historical and social myth: these critics found no paranormal conditions alluding to space people, but only a pantheon of mythical gods and goddesses from nature. The authors: “The ancients were not the dark and dumb rabble commonly portrayed. They were, in fact, highly advanced. As such, they developed over a period of many thousands of years a complex astronomical/ astrological system that incorporated the movements and qualities of numerous celestial bodies, which could be called the ‘celestial mythos.’”

Thomas explored the major religions, with only a few surviving with noble truths. The Bahai religion, said Thomas, appeared moderately humane. All religions grew out of Egyptian and Sumerian history. He further examined the fallacies and shortcomings of Darwinism. The biggest error in Darwinism was “biogenesis”: “Many Darwinists refuse to accept the existence of a universal mind or consciousness behind the formation of all matter in the universe.” Matter, said Thomas, initially formed as a manifestation of mind. “We need to think of god, as a primary source of all creativity and an intelligent animating life force.” Thomas debated not only the scientific accusations of Darwin but the legal aspects as well. Thomas’s book stood on two important concepts:

“There is a component of our universe which consists of a cosmic mind that was in existence at the creation of the universe.”
“Cosmic mind is the originator and force which brought the essence of biological life (DNA) into material existence (biogenesis).”

The existence of Universal Intelligence (UI) unfolded by natural theories expressed through quantum physics. Adjunct to this science was the science of cosmology. Thomas pointed to Albert Einstein as one of the great cosmologists: “Not unlike Jesus and his parables, he maintained the capacity to see unique parallels between observational science and the problems and conditions of society.”

THE SCIENCE OF DUALISM

The remainder of the book forged inroads into the latest findings of modern science, which Thomas sees as our largest salvation that could lead us into adventures into the vastness of the universe. Likewise, Thomas believed science would eventually confirm mind/body dualism. The only element that could destroy such progress is human ignorance, bigotry, and dishonesty.

“Combining the newest understanding and implications of quantum physics, specifically non-local entanglement, and its connection to evidence in support of the existence of morphic fields (fields of consciousness), is both logical and matter of common sense,” said Thomas.

Thomas assessed five levels of civilization: Zero (or, the Earth prior to 1957), Planetary (Earth, post 1957 with space travel to nearby planets), Solar, and Galactic: “The Anunnaki were most likely a galactic civilization.” Earth is presently a Zero civilization, now first “limping” into the Planetary. The only thing preventing us from future progress is basic evil attributes that may destroy or prevent us. In the meantime, Thomas had taken us on an overview of some of the latest scientific and human accomplishments: Dr. Anton Zeilinger at the University of Vienna; Bell’s Theory; physicist Arthur Eddington; nanotechnology; computer scientist Ray Kurzweil; artificial life forms; Professor David Deamer of California University; terraforming Mars; and a New-World-Wide-Convertible-Society-Republic. This Republic, said Thomas, will take into account, compensate for and prevent the present evils of the world and into the future.

THE COMING COLLAPSE

Because of the economic “mess,” that the elites of the world have gotten society into, a social and economic collapse was inevitable. “The truly rich are tiny minorities who have their wealth protected through corporations,” said Thomas, “trusts, international assets and special legislative provisions, all but ensuring their survival in perpetuity.”

“The international economic calamity that began in 2008 and will result in a global collapse that will involve almost all of the world’s nations is unstoppable,” said Thomas. “Our world can be a dangerous place, not only because of the potential of the criminal and disruptive elements, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

The Coming Collapse

Robert Thomas had done extensive and elaborate research in his book. He had provoked many questions, some of which Steve Erdmann would raise himself. For one thing, historical and religious symbolism and myth should not involve censorship, destruction or curtailment because of the emolument of forthcoming new sciences, but they should be revered and preserved; it is part of our consciousness.

Thomas had strongly defended consciousness beyond death. He portrayed this in his discussion on Reincarnation and Near-Death-Experiments (NDE); consequently, the idea of Life (or consciousness) after death is not foreign to him. Thomas also had defended parapsychology and PSI. Other than this, his repertoire of “theory” looked somewhat shallow: he lacked mention of the hundreds of case files on hauntings, poltergeists, angel phenomenon. spiritualism and séances, apparitions, angel sightings, The Bible Code, and a wide pageant of such encounters – some highly documented by professionals; these seemed curiously missing.

Likewise, his rather quizzical rejection of Jesus’s “miracles” (or, miracles in general) seemed contradictory: what if Jesus was descended from the Anunnaki heritage and bloodline, and that held great significance; what if PSI and paranormal activity were part of the life and times of prophets and priests?

Thomas also rejected the Resurrection of Jesus based many on selective research of what is often called Higher Criticism (Historical criticism, also known as the historical-critical method or higher criticism, is a branch of ‘literary criticism’ that investigated the origins of ancient text in order to understand “the world behind the text.” Renaissance theories allowed Higher Critics to reject anything supernatural or miraculous). However, this movement goes against the belief that the Anunnaki possessed supposed psychic and technological abilities that ‘would’ enable physical/spiritual resurrection.

“These would be the resurrection chambers…hinted at in direct connection with the Anunnaki…to create some form of a biological facsimile of your body through artificial intelligence and then somehow manage to transfer your spiritual essence directly into the new artificial/biological copy.” (pp. 408-409) Perhaps “miracles” are not beyond Anunnaki ‘‘overseers,” even in Biblical and medieval times. Perhaps Thomas was “throwing the baby out with the bath water.”

Multiple studies on the legendary Shroud of Turin resurrection case indicated a real event took place. Several pieces of science pointed to the authenticity of the Shroud.

TENS OF MILLIONS OF VOLTS

Giulio Fanti, professor of Mechanical and Thermal Measurements at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Padua said in the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology that experiments by Fanti and Professor Giancarlo that “voltages measured at approximately 500,000 volts were required to obtain shroud-like images that were just a few meters long.” To complete the image, Fanti also said, “…you would need voltages of up to tens of millions of volts.”

Thomas extolled this same type of “science” as worthy and our possible future salvation.

Darrell L. Bock was a research professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He had specialized in hermeneutics and the historical Jesus. Bock was a graduate of the University of Texas (B.A.), The Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and The University of Aberdeen (Ph.D.). Bock wrote about the reality of the consistency of Scriptures and the truth of the written text (Who is Jesus? Darrell L. Bock, Howard Books, 1230 Avenue of the Americas, New York, N.Y. 10020, 2012).

Bock took issue directly with some of the claims of Higher Critics, and he appeared to do so in a modern context. At the least, Bock’s work showed that Higher Critics had no final word on these topics.

UFO INSIGHTS

Thomas almost refused to acknowledge or contend with the wide range of UFO activity that had been taking place in the last few centuries. It was illogical to say that space visitors of this century had virtually nothing to do with Thomas’s Anunnaki phenomenon thousands of years ago. The mention of two classic UFO cases (p. 510) was not adequate in outlining current UFO activity when UFO history was much more voluminous.

Other aspects in UFO lore were “abduction reports,” “hybridization” and “virgin and missing pregnancies.” While these oft times carried sinister overtones, many UFO stories appeared benign. Downing, Avon Books, The Hearst Corporation, 959 Eighth Avenue, New York, New York 10019, 1970.)

Thomas spoke on how the Anunnaki had reached the Galactic Level of civilization, and, we, today, humankind, with the persistent refinement of science and the redaction of religion, could eventually create a New World Authority of peace and utopian reality. This sounded a lot like the current impressments about a New World Order. Dictators like Adolf Hitler also spoke of their New World Order. Similar to Thomas’s world, Hitler was creating a supposed utopian society, but it was according to his perverted and maniacal philosophy. Hitler collected art and riches and conducted advancing science, but he also destroyed in the name of ‘purification”; the eugenics was an off-shoot of Nazism.

FREEDOM VERSUS TOTAL CONTROL

Current writers also noticed the conundrum in the talk about ultimate authority:

Lorri Anderson said in Hitler, Big Government, and the Perfect Society (August 17, 2012.): ‘‘Hitler practiced everything from illegal search and seizure, gun control, hampering freedom of religion, freedom of speech muffled, the indefinite containment of human beings (concentration camps), legalized murder, experimentation on human beings (in the name of science), and controlled what citizens were and were not allowed to read and write. The world saw Hitler for the monster that he was and the atrocities he had done to so many innocent people in the name of his agenda (the perfect society)…(today, we seem to be) putting the same ideals into a different language and making it law. We’re accepting it because they are telling us ‘it is for the greater good of the people.’ I believe Hitler said the same thing.”

THE EVIL ANUNNAKI

There seemed to be “something” within our own nature – the reality of an “evil” component – that even the Anunnaki could not suppress it from within their ranks. The Anunnaki apparently had advanced weaponry, according to Thomas and likeminded theorists. They waged actual hyper technological warfare. The Indian Mahabharata, Vedas, and Vimanas spoke of this. Supposedly, they had weapons of mass destruction (p. 150). The Ramayana spoke of “…nuclear war, the force and destructions, radiation poisoning…” (p.182). The Wars of Yahweh, Story of Adam and Eve, and The Wisdom and Magic of Solomon had spoken of how “deities” used advanced technology to help Solomon build temples and how the Jews – under the guardianship of these deities – mercilessly defeated Palestinians (p. 200) and the Philistines (p. 206).

The Anunnaki, according to multiple writers over the years, also invented a hybrid race of ‘slaves’; Thomas cited this as well on pages 128, 134 and 148. Anunnaki history said that such a hybrid race did much of the gold and other mining operations, plus various slave duties.

These parts and parcels of history suggested that unless we eliminated that “evil” element within us – and with no need to destroy our “links” to historical art, ritual, legend, and other symbols of the past (as Thomas’s “redactions” play with) – “utopia” couldn’t have materialized in past Galactic civilizations; and probably will not materialize looking into the future.

CEASELESS, SUBMISSIVE EFFICIENCY

World Pax Mundi

The fallacies of “ultimate control” was portrayed by H.G. Wells in his novel Things to Come where the ultimate salvation for the earth, typified by aeronaut John Cabal, (after a devastating world war) and the eventual institution of a World Pax Mundi government controlled by science (Wings over the World):

Part I

INTO JUNG’S SHADOW

A frequent statement about the mystery of the John Kennedy Assassination: someone who was intimately involved with Lee Oswald would have surely stepped forward to divulge secrets! One of those “someone’s” was Judyth Vary Baker, the mistress of Oswald during 1963, when, as a cancer researcher, she became involved in what had been known as the “Project.” The Project partially consisted of plans about clandestinely killing Dictator Fidel Castro.

Baker’s gradual involvement from a bright and promising student in cancer research into the murky world of espionage and political undercover was adequately explained in her book as a participant and lover of Lee Harvey Oswald. That she survived personal assassination, as so many other participants have not, was truly amazing. Fortunately, she had survived, and the results were the missing pieces of the Kennedy fiasco.

The inner-workings of the 1963 fiasco: most were part of an ultra-right-wing political movement to fight Communism; many, however, of the corrupt world of crime and government espionage that included many players in New Orleans, was only interested in Power.

The list of “players” seemed endless. I covered only a few here of the more curious:

CAST OF PLAYERS

# The Project, Alton Ochsner, Mary Sherman, and David Ferrie. A crucial person in Judyth’s career was Dr. Alton Ochsner, one-time President of the American Cancer Society, and Chief of Surgery at Tulane Medical School, and then President of the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Ochsner had also directed INCA (The Information Council for the Americas), an anti-Communist organization in Latin America.

Dr. Ochsner also led Judyth, slated for an internship at Miami University, into another internship with a Dr. Mary Sherman, director of Ochsner’s bone pathology laboratory at Ochsner’s clinic. Sherman was one of the foremost cancer researchers in America. Sherman admired Judyth’s experiments with the carcinogenic SV-40 virus and other fast-growing cancers. Baker’s dream was to continue medical school at Tulane, but such as dream took a careening detour on April 26, 1963, when she met Lee Oswald at the post office. It was a spectacular coincidence.

The secret laboratory was introduced to Judyth through David Ferrie, former Eastern Airlines pilot, and CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) operative enmeshed in the New Orleans Ultra-Right. Other right-wing CIA operatives, who wanted to see the success of the Project and the defeat of Fidel Castro, further camouflaged the secret operation. Ferrie was an “operator” that lurked behind the scenes throughout the Kennedy Mystery. Ferrie’s homosexuality caused him to be defrocked from the priesthood and the loss of his job at Eastern Airlines. It was not enough, however, to dissuade the CIA from using him. Ferrie was a valuable “player,” especially, because of his New Orleans Mob connections.

“I trust nobody I know in the agency. The CIA and the Mob are bed-buddies, which means no protection for the (Commander-in-) Chief (Kennedy) from the Mob,” said Ferrie. “There’s no telling if this talk has reached higher levels or not. The CIA is no friend of JFK. He fired their precious Allen Dulles and wrecked General Cabell’s career…Ochsner is naïve when it comes to dealing with these slick Texas millionaires, the CIA, and the Mob. They’ve got him wrapped up for Christmas, right where they want him. They drink together, hunt together, play golf together, gamble together and decide what’s best for the country together.”

David Ferrie’s apartment became one of the sites where experiments for the “Project” was central. Mice with tumors were “harvested” there for use in the bio-weapon. Dr. Sherman oversaw their transport to her Prytania Street laboratory.

# Guy Banister. Ironically, Guy Banister was a private detective who was under the pay of Mobster Carlos Marcello, while also investigating corruption in the New Orleans Police Department. A former FBI agent, Banister, at one time, had been in charge of 500 FBI agents in the Chicago region. He now spent a good portion of his efforts to uncover Communist traitors and radicals. Banister was fairly aware and active in many get-Castro projects, such as the bio-chemical project.

# Carlos Marcello. The powerful Godfather of New Orleans, eager to aid the get-Castro movement (in revenge for the Mob being rioted out of Cuba), protected the “Project,” as well as harass and deport suspicious Cuban spies (pp. 218-219). Later, under the Kennedy brothers’ heavy thumb in challenging corruption, Marcello and other mobsters vowed to kill Kennedy.

# Clay Shaw. In 1963, Clay Shaw was General Manager of the International Trade Mart in New Orleans, and one of the main parties in the 1967-1969 trial of Shaw by District Attorney Jim Garrison for conspiring to murder President Kennedy. Shaw denied knowledge of Lee Oswald, though Judyth said that they definitely knew each other, and, in fact, Shaw drove the black Cadillac on Thursday, August 29, 1963, to Jackson, Louisiana. Oswald was a passenger.

Clay Laverne Shaw reserved a room for Oswald and Judyth at the Monteleone Hotel on Sunday, July 7, 1963.

Shaw was acquitted of charges in the Garrison trial. The jurors, however, were still suspicious of a conspiracy.

“The CIA’s presence in New Orleans was as blatant as it was logical,” said Baker. “Shaw and his business associates who traveled abroad cooperated with the CIA’s information gathering as a patriotic duty. They would fill out reports for the CIA on people they met and matters they observed. Some spent far more time gathering information than others, and the line between a mere domestic contact and a spy could get fuzzy.” (p. 325)

Richard Helms, former director of the CIA, testified in 1979 that Shaw was, indeed, a CIA Domestic Contact Service Operative.

“Shaw represents important anti-Castro interests,” Lee Oswald told Judyth.

“Lee said Clay Shaw were both Ochsner’s longtime friend and Dave’s friend, and that he suspected that Shaw had strong connections to the CIA,” said Judyth Baker. “Lee also knew that Shaw was fiercely anti-Castro and had cooperated with the WASP (pamphlet distribution at the aircraft carrier) project. But Lee also suspected he was a member of the get-Kennedy coalition. Lee considered Shaw to be a wildcard.” (p. 380)

# Jack Ruby. Judyth’s introduction to Jack Ruby began with gossip that Burlesk strippers shared with her. Ruby apparently worked for Godfather Carlos Marcello. “Ruby handled Marcello’s interests in Dallas,” said Baker, “including cop-fixing.” Judyth’s first meeting with “Sparky Rubenstein” was on Monday, May 6, 1963, at the home of David Ferrie. Lee Oswald was also present.

The next time Judyth met “Sparky” was on Thursday, June 6, 1963, at the 500 Club on Bourbon Street, along with Carlos Marcello, Clay Shaw, and a few other underground “dignitaries,” to talk about the “Venezuelan (arms shipment) matter.” Judyth came with Lee Oswald, David Ferrie, and David and Anna Lewis. At one point, “Sparky” signaled Lee Oswald to Marcello’s table to discuss “how to handle” the Venezuelan shipment. The final time Judyth saw Jack “Sparky” Rubenstein was on television with the televised assassination on Sunday, November 24, 1963, of Lee Oswald by Ruby.

(“Ruby was in regular contact with associates of Carlos Marcello and Santos Trafficante in 1963,” said Baker.)

Judyth asked about a glance Oswald gave a second before his assassination: “Did Lee recognize his old friend just seconds before he was shot?” Jack Ruby told Baker that he had known Oswald since Oswald was a child (p. 236).

“They had taken my true love away from me, in front of the whole world,” said Baker. “And they did it in a police station, where law and order should prevail. The perverse irony of it all was only overshadowed by my anguish. It was the worst day of my life.”

# Lee Harvey Oswald. “I gave up trying to follow the players, techniques, and motives in Lee’s complex covert world,” said Judyth Baker. Later: “I had always admired the work that spies did. Now I realize I was actually talking to a real one!” (Judyth Baker as she talked about Lee Oswald, April 27, 1963 [p. 134])

Espionage was a childhood ambition of Lee Oswald. He wanted to become an undercover government agent ever since his viewing of the television series I Led Three Lives (1953-1956) about international intrigue and FBI espionage (p.133). David Ferrie recommended Lee to contacts in the Marines that would pave the way for Oswald “as a candidate for intelligence training, including lessons and spycraft.” (p. 197) Baker mentioned in the book that officials remarked of the teenage Oswald as a good prospect.

Like all government “spy assets,” Oswald apparently carried his share of the undercover and espionage load, running chores, hiding codes, exchanging intelligence information, and servicing a bioweapon to be smuggled into Cuba. Oswald did various “duties” that he surely felt were of value to his “handlers”; especially in a CIA/FBI/Mobster encrusted city as New Orleans (Oswald was not foreign to this world of intrigue, as his Uncle Charles “Dutz” Murret was an illegal bookkeeper for Mobsters Carlos Marcello and Sam Saia [page 147]). Judyth saw in Guy Banister’s secret files that David Ferrie and Oswald “were engaged in real anti-Castro and anti-subversive projects, albeit secret ones, which were sponsored by the U.S government.” (p. 174)

Oswald, at some point in the underworld meanderings of point-counter-point, deemed his life had become expendable. His vulnerability surpassed Barker’s argument (pp. 157, 276) that Oswald couldn’t have killed Officer J.D. Tippit; it surpassed the argument that Oswald could not have been on the sixth floor of the Texas Book Depository at the time of the Kennedy shooting (p. 558). It also surpassed the point that many people in his life, such as George de Mohrenschildt and Ruth Payne, had CIA connections (pp. 392, 491). Oswald knew his life was in danger (pp. 505, 520).

“I was supposed to spy on the project for the CIA to keep everybody honest,” said Oswald. “And then, all other little things they’ve had me do, such as those pro-Castro stunts…they’ll kill me just to get rid of me.”

Barker, as lovers would, was aware that Oswald had penetrated the “heart of the groups in New Orleans who were serious about killing Kennedy…(as well as) an elite circle of even more powerful men, mostly from Texas, composed of politicians, whose fanatical patriotism was mixed with monetary ambitions and a lust for power.” (p. 419)

Oswald was deliberately enmeshed in two operative teams: one to shoot Kennedy, and one to “abort” the event. The complexity of such an operation boggles the imagination (p. 519).

CALLED FOR A PERSONAL STUDY

“Lee,” I said, “I know you’re used to leading three lives, or thirty, but I’d rather tell the truth.” “Ah,” he said, “you’re still not use to it like I am…false trails, false records, fake names.” (Judyth Baker and Lee Oswald, July 19, 1963, as they spoke about events [page 402])

Only after a serious study of the book with its plush, intimate facts and comments–in their entirety–taken in detail and systematically–will readers come to appreciate and understand the complex threads of conspiracy.

Barker could possibly–the same as Oswald–have been selected for the destiny they entered at an early age, and perhaps it was more than coincidence that they met in New Orleans (“I was useful because I was almost untraceable, since I wasn’t a doctor yet…,” p. 182).

David Ferrie had spoken of such projects that involved human control:

“…he had more to tell us about mind control and the experiments on people, frequently without their knowledge,” said Baker. “Yes, American citizens were being used as guinea pigs by their own government.”

“These things never die,” said David Ferrie. “It’s an iron-clad law that it takes more energy to stop a government program than to start one. This is self-perpetuating.” (p. 217)

The prospect that the inner-workings of men and society have become victim to hidden and minute control from sinister forces should have frightened us all.

JUDYTH ANSWERED CRITICS

Judyth Barker discovered numerous scandalous and false accusations against her on the Internet and in the media; she has attempted to answer and correct as much of the criticisms and attacks as she could over the years. The extensive coverage of those rebuttals was beyond the scope of this article, but some websites (out of a multitude) were available:

Judyth Vary Baker said: “I was told to keep my mouth shut if I wanted to stay alive, and I did so for decades; but I finally realized that if I did not speak out during my lifetime, I would have no way of defending the book. I had decided to go to the grave, originally, with what I knew, and to simply let my son publish the book posthumously. Then I would not have to battle the forces that could (and did) ruin my life.

COMPLEXITY OF HIGHLIGHTS

A sampling-catalog of a few synchronistic highlights from Judyth Baker’s memoir typified the extent and mystery of the Kennedy fiasco:

# There were actually “six” tramps arrested in Dallas on November 22, 1963. One of the tramps was a suspected Chauncey Holt, a mafia asset. He was one of three arrested but then released without charges. Holt was photographed in front of the Trade Mart on August 16, 1963, with Lee Oswald. Holt was a disguise artist who made Oswald’s fake IDs. He worked on CIA projects such as Operation Mongoose (p. 462).

# George de Mohrenschildt, geologist, and handler of Oswald, had dated Jackie Kennedy’s mother. “Jackie Bouvier Kennedy called him ‘Uncle George’ when she was young; George also knew Ruth Paine’s father.” (p. 393)

# “The Texas Theater was owned by (billionaire) Howard Hughes, who had strong ties with the CIA.” (Judyth Baker) Connected with Oswald’s arrest, a witness reported seeing an “Oswald double” leave through the back door of the theater and entering a police car on November 22, 1963. (p. 537)

# Oswald attended and talked at a Russian seminar on July 27, 1963. Jesuit “spies” concerned about the Sandinista insurrection Latin America infiltrated the seminar. Bobby Kennedy also sent an inquiring Jesuit priest. The CIA and Mafia asked Oswald to discourage the insurrection. Oswald said the spies worked for Aristotle Socrates Onassis, a Greek shipping magnate who later became the husband of Jackie Kennedy, John Kennedy’s widow (pp. 416, 421).

# Over the years a number of researchers had suggested that David Atlee Phillips (CIA psyops expert in Operation Sherwood and PBSUCCESS), alias Maurice Bishop, was involved in planning the JFK assassination. CIA agent E. Howard Hunt named Phillips as a participant in the assassination (p. 521).

# Oswald’s uncle, Charles (Dutz) Murret, died in 1964, a bad year for witness-deaths.

# Oswald showed Judyth a pistol that was ‘not’ a semi-automatic pistol. Authorities claimed that a semi-automatic weapon shot Officer J.D. Tippit.

# Robert Gene Baker, a powerful Washington insider, Billie Sol Estes, a powerful Texas businessperson, and Vice-President Lyndon Johnson, were instrumental in the Assassination. Hitman Malcolm Wallace was involved in eight murders connected to Lyndon Johnson. Wallace’s fingerprint “was found on a box of books stacked in the so-called ‘sniper’s nest’ in the Texas School Book Depository…” “…later in life, after LBJ’s death, Estes admitted to secretly funneling millions of dollars to LBJ, and that it was LBJ who ordered the murder of President John F. Kennedy…” (pp. 522-523)

BLOOD-THIRSTY GAME

“The pursuit of power is a blood-thirsty game that knows few rules,” said fellow assassination researcher Edward Haslam, “it kills to silence. It punishes those who get in the way. It threatens those who might speak up. Lee was a casualty of this ugly game. His death preserved their secrets.” (Forward, Me & Lee, November 2009)

“…if Oswald was not the shooter, then it is questionable if the plotting in the New Orleans actually resulted in the assassination,” summarized investigative journalist Jim Marrs. “The New Orleans plot was real enough, but the true assassins remain masked behind the smoke from the Grassy Knoll…events in New Orleans in the summer of 1963 reveal the murderous interconnections of the major players in the assassination.” (p. 566)

A WILDERNESS OF CHICANERY

“Contrary to published accounts, Lee Harvey Oswald was a patriot who loved his country,” said publisher Kris Millegan in the dedication to Me & Lee. “He submersed himself in an officially-sanctioned covert arena where one’s inventive ‘legend’ becomes an entry into a netherworld of intrigue, compartmentalization, secret operations and contrived situations…whichever guise is called up by a taskmaster giving the high sign through the shadows of plausible deniability: A wilderness of chicanery, deceit and double/triple crosses.”

The late psychoanalyst Carl Jung examined the magic and elegant world of what he called “synchronistic events” and “meaningful coincidence”: “temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events,” “connecting (togetherness) principle,” and “acausal parallelism.” Jung introduced the concept as early as the 1920s, but gave a full statement of it only in 1951 in an Eranos lecture, and in 1952, published a paper, Synchronizität als ein Prinzip akausaler Zusammenhänge (Synchronicity – An Acausal Connecting Principle), in a volume with a related study by the physicist (and Nobel laureate) Wolfgang Pauli.

THE UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE

It was a principle that Jung felt gave conclusive evidence for his concepts of archetypes (universal symbolic representations and imagery) and the collective unconscious (a consciousness shared by all mankind, similar to the akashic records [in Indian religion, a supposed all-pervading field in the ether in which a record of past events is imprinted]). It was descriptive of a governing dynamic that underlies the whole of human experience and history-social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. These are concurrent events that first appear to be coincidental but later turn out to be causally related (seem to take on real and intimate, personal meaning) and are termed incoincident.

The World of the Universal Akashic Records

Jung believed that many experiences perceived as coincidence were not merely due to chance but, instead, suggested the manifestation of parallel (real) events or deliberate circumstances reflecting this “governing dynamic” (the akashic all-pervading consciousness).

One of Jung’s favorite quotes on synchronicity was from Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, in which the White Queen says to Alice:

“It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backward.”

“A simple example of synchronicity is when you suddenly think about someone you haven’t seen for a few years and just after you have the thought, that person calls you. At the other end of the scale are visions or dreams where the person sees an event that either occurred but which they did not witness, or one that occurs after they ‘see’ it.”

The JFK assassination was rife with such coincidence:

The John Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln assassinations, for instance; below was a short sampling, out of many Lincoln/Kennedy coincidences:

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contained seven letters.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both opposed the International Bankers: Kennedy gave Executive Order 11110 on June 4, 1963, which would have wiped out the Federal Reserve. Lincoln fought Rothschild’s attempts to finance the Civil War; warned people about the National Banking Act (later, through the efforts of Secretary of War Edwin Stanton and Thomas W. Lincoln’s last child, Tad, had his funeral held on July 16, 1871. Later he was exhumed and moved to a different grave-site.
Kennedy’s son JFK Jr. was lost at sea on July 16, 1999. Later he was found, brought up, and then re-buried at sea.

Apparently, Lincoln had a dream several days before the assassination that he had been killed.
He told his wife that he had seen himself in a casket.

In addition, Lincoln’s son Tad had a pet turkey named Jack. Tad asked his father not to kill the turkey for Thanksgiving.

There were “four” fiction books written on the sinking of liners similar to the ill-fated and famous RMS Titanic. All of the books were written beforehand:

The Sinking of a Modern Liner by W.T. Stead in 1886 (Stead died on the “actual” Titanic in 1912).
Futility: The Wreck of the Titan by Morgan Robertson in 1898.
The Ships Run by M. McDonnell Bodkin in 1908 (named The Titanic).
The White Ghost of Disaster (called the Admiral) which described the sinking of the Titanic-like Admiral; the book was being distributed ‘before’ the real Titanic was set out to sail in 1912.
All of these fiction stories displayed actual resemblances to the real Titanic.

J.P MORGAN OWNED THE TITANIC

The coincidences went even further.

Three elite and wealthy businesspersons that opposed the Federal Reserve Bank, Benjamin Guggenheim (mining and machinery), Isa Strauss (co-owner of Macy Stores), and Colonel Jacob Astor (owner of the Waldorf Astoria) were all deceased on the Titanic voyage in 1912.

Mogul J.P. Morgan owned the Titanic and the Silver Star Ship Lines.

Morgan was very much in favor of the Federal Reserve Bank.

On April 14, 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg and all opposition to the Federal Reserve was eliminated. Lincoln was also dedicatedly opposed to the International Bankers. His opposition to the scheming financiers also ended on April 14 (the same day of the week in history as the Titanic sinking and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln).

(In December of 1913, the Federal Reserve System came into being in the United States. Eight months later, the First World War began. John Kennedy’s murder ended his opposition to the Federal Reserve; following his death, escalation of the Vietnam War began.)

Jacob Astor, a Titanic victim, funded and befriended electronics genius Nikola Tesla, but when Morgan discovered that Tesla was going to give his inventions to the public, outside of Morgan’s monopolies, Morgan began to blackball Tesla and ruin Tesla’s career (Tesla’s history, in itself, contained some extraordinary events; of which is beyond the scope this article).

The above examples portrayed the intricate and on-going phenomena called “meaningful coincidence” that seemed limitless and unending; a few more examples brought the topic closer to home: real-life coincidences of Steve Erdmann in the JFK scenario:

# Judyth Baker, at the age of eight, had a pet lapdog named “Sparky.” At the approximate age of nine, I also adopted a mongrel pet dog that I named “Sparky.” Mobster Jack Ruby, Jacob Rubenstein, was also nicknamed “Sparky.”

# My dog “Sparky” lived until about late 1963, near the time of Kennedy’s death. About that time, “unseen” teenage “thugs” attacked and disabled Sparky and he had to be put to death. These ‘criminals’ (I had suspects…SE) apparently were very “jealous” of my dating a girl who later became my first wife, and when confronted by a property-protective Sparky, decided to “kick and beat” my dog.

# “Sparky” Rubenstein had a history of violence and having been involved in dramatic confrontations (not to mention the shooting of Lee Oswald). “…in his youth, his old buddies from Chicago called him ‘Sparky’ because of his short temper.” (p. 553)

# My first-purchased home was on Louisiana Avenue in St. Louis in the early 1970s. David Ferrie’s apartment was on Louisiana Parkway in New Orleans in 1963. There was also a Louisiana bus line in New Orleans (p. 426), as well as a Louisiana Avenue (p. 207).

# Judyth was 15 months older than Steve Erdmann. On November 22, 1963, she was 20 years, 7 months years-of-age. I was 19 years, 4 months.

# My father, Steve Erdmann, Sr., passed away 10 months after my birth date, two months short of a twelve-month period. Lee Oswald’s father died “two months” before Oswald’s birth date.

# Grandfather Steve Erdmann died on April 29, my father died on April 21: Judyth met Lee Oswald on April 26.

# When Steve Erdmann was about six-years-of-age, Steve Erdmann’s mother, Clara Erdmann, placed Steve into a Manchester, Missouri Lutheran orphanage (next to the St. Paul Lutheran church). It was a temporary provision; she wanted to relocate and “get back on her feet” (“…Lee explained that his father had died a few months before he was born… [His] mother struggled with financial problems so severe…,” p. 135). Steve stayed at the orphanage for about a three-year period. Lee Oswald was placed in the Lutheran Bethlehem orphanage in New Orleans at the age of three.

# Judyth Baker was working at Pencham Laboratory on November 22, 1963, where one man expressed the “hope that somebody in Dallas would shoot him (Kennedy).” When the Last Rites were given to the President, cheers went up from the laboratory workers; Judyth’s employer exclaimed “Good!” He later berated Judyth for being a “Goddamned Communist!” (pp. 526-527) Steve Erdmann was working at a customer-counter in St. Louis where employees discussed the murder as it came out. One of the customers exclaimed: “It’s about time somebody shot that son-of-a-bitch!”

# Lee Oswald and Steve Erdmann both shared a somewhat tumultuous early life and marriage consisting of abuse, instability and some deceit: “I am used to harpies in my life,” Lee commented, “my mother and my wife are both experts in the department.” (p. 152)

Life seemed to be a sea of mystery and quantum connection that forever lingered beyond our finite grasp. Manuscript space prohibited further inquiries into the strange world of coincidence, personal lives and world events. That waited upon the readers’ next step into that private void.

The topic of Carl Jung’s synchronistic events and meaningful coincidence could malinger endlessly on topics of John Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, assassinations and personal connections. You would be amazed how it would connect to your personal life, once you inaugurate your intimate study into your own history. Every time I began to further investigate sites and names, on the Internet and other, the “unraveling” became a cascade far more impressive than the Niagara Falls. Be prepared with pen and pencil and even databases to record the many astounding (probably, even frightening) twists and turns.

The following events about the Everly Brothers were left out of the main article because of their slight connection to Jung’s definition of synchronism, but it still was a coincidence. It was 1960, and although it was three years before the 1963 events in New Orleans, that year held one interesting synchronism in Steve Erdmann’s life with those of Lee Oswald and Judyth Baker in 1963. All three persons had infinity with the Everly Brothers and their song “Let It Be Me” (p. 267, May 9, p. 351, June 24, p. 364, June 29 and p. 388, July 18, 1963: The most popular version of “Let It Be Me” was released in 1960 by The Everly Brothers. It reached the 7th position on the Billboard Hot 100). “Let It Be Me” was serious backdrop music to a high school romance with Sharon and me, and I thought of her whenever I heard that song on the radio. It was a depressing time in the life of Steve Erdmann, and it was Sharon’s dedicated romance that kept me from sliding completely ‘under’ into despair.

Other coincidences on the Lincoln assassination were concerning the fact that John Wilkes Booth was part of a Confederate cabal involving the Confederate Secret Service.

Booth made mysterious trips to Montreal. At the time, the pro-Southern cause enjoyed considerable sympathy in Montreal, which was also known as a haunt for agents of the Confederacy.

There were several other “plots” to disrupt the stability of the North Union, all part of the Confederate stratagem. “The conspiracy that followed revolved around three simultaneous acts of violence calculated to create chaos and fear in the Union government and punish Booth’s enemies for their roles in the bloody war that was ending. (Putting aside, for the moment, Lee Oswald’s guilt or innocence in the shooting of Kennedy) It is now apparent that several, seemingly simultaneous, and apparently, “disconnected” ‘plots’ revolved around the shooting of John Kennedy (a similarity and coincidence to the conspirators in the Lincoln assassination). This involved multiple characters planted about Dallas with suspicious motives and acts, unbeknownst to each other, preparing to engage in some acts of treachery and criminality. What a better way to scheme and yet cover your tracks: not just one patsy but multiple patsies or, even, multiple perpetrators. Booth made trips to Canada; Oswald (or someone who looked like Oswald) made trips to Cuba; both bastions of conspiracy.

I recalled reading in the back pages of the Post–Dispatch News (even naming the culprits) that several Cuban shooters were arrested in Dallas that day and placed under suspicion. This scenario was recognized by researcher and CIA executive Brian Latrell (“Castro and a small number of Cuban intelligence officers were complicit in Kennedy’s death but…their involvement fell short of an organized assassination plot,” he wrote in Castro’s Secrets: The CIA and Cuba’s Intelligence Machine). Similarly, there was also author Matthew Smith (JFK: The Second Plot, Mainstream Publishing, 1992, pp. 265-268).

Again, life and its sub-plots seemed like Russian Matryoshka Babushka dolls. Visupview Blogspot did extensive research into the complexity of synchronism in the Kennedy Assassination (far beyond the scope of these short comments): the reader should review Visupview’s work in its entirety:

ANTHONY SUMMERS SPEAKS ON MANY PLOTS

By comparison, to John Wiles Booth and the many “plots” swirling about Lincoln in the Lincoln assassination, there may have been a similar matrix and ‘labyrinth’ of characters, plants, plots, and foils in the Kennedy assassination; Summers suspected one plot:

He was also a political assassin, responsible for as many as 20 deaths, and at the time of the Kennedy assassination he was in the United States.”

“After November 22, I don’t want to hear about the JFK case again. It is a nightmare to work on, not only a labyrinth but a labyrinth with lots of turnings off (in) the labyrinth. The best answer is that we don’t know the answer, and probably never will.”
